har*GIS Field Information Systems has announced the release of a new software application to increase efficiencies in the maintenance of distribution assets. Based on TruckMap*, an industry-leading Field Information System, Asset Maintainer leverages the data compression capabilities of the TruckMap* platform to move information stored in enterprise databases onto low-cost mobile field devices and adds preconfigured forms, map data, symbology and reports designed specifically to automate standard asset maintenance business processes.
The preconfigured forms are based around the specific tasks and work flows of field force personnel involved with facilities asset management. An intuitive interface that leverages pick lists, point-and-click functionality, drop-down menus and pen-based computing enables field personnel to easily locate and specify data needed from enterprise CIS, GIS, work management, maintenance management, asset management, outage management, transformer management, meter management and other relational database-driven systems and display this information against a map base.
Field personnel indicate a specified facility or area, and the system automatically links to the appropriate enterprise relational database and sends the appropriate data to the field device. When the field activity is complete, the system can then automatically update other mobile workers and the appropriate corporate databases with any changes that were made.
Built-in inspection and inventory functionality enables field crews to rapidly locate facility assets using the software’s integrated statewide detailed road maps for address lookup, routing and navigation. The functionality included with the software includes:
