Haestad Methods announced that it is expanding the 2003 WaterObjects training schedule to include additional courses for each month throughout the year. The focus of these new courses is WaterObjects, the company’s latest addition to its state-of-the-art water resources software portfolio, designed to provide programmatic access and customization of WaterCAD and WaterGEMS software. The next round of training for engineers and managers will be held May 21-23 at Haestad Methods’ Connecticut-based educational facility.
WaterObjects is a full-featured software development kit (SDK) that leverages the water modeling capabilities of WaterCAD and WaterGEMS through third-party custom applications. WaterObjects is the same technology that Haestad Methods’ developers used to create modules for WaterCAD and WaterGEMS, including cutting edge features such as Skelebrator, GeoGrapher, and ModelBuilder.
This course is structured so that it will benefit engineers with limited programming experience as well as professional software developers. Hands-on exercises are geared toward the students’ level of expertise, ranging from creating MS Office macros to developing custom applications using WaterObjects. Participants will learn how to gain external access to WaterCAD and WaterGEMS technology, including the modeling backend database, scenario and alternative management system, unit conversion, element management, hydraulic calculation engine, and calculation results. In addition, attendees will learn to plug directly into WaterCAD and WaterGEMS with their own custom macros and/or applications. Each section is accompanied with a sample Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code; but users can choose which language they use to complete exercises (such as C#, C++, Java, etc.). Hands-on exercises and examples help users apply concepts along with the instructor.
Each three-day participant will earn the status of Haestad Methods’ Certified WaterObjects Programmer, and will receive a certification plaque, course notebook, CD with sample WaterObjects code, and WaterObjects documentation.
