GRID-Arendal and Adger University College to organise “E-learning for Sustainability – new opportunities for capacity development and distance education.”

August 20, 2002 GRID-Arendal and Adger University College will be organising a side event on “E-learning for Sustainability – New Opportunities for Capacity Development and Distance Education.” on behalf of the United Nations University, the Institute of Advanced Studies, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), This event will take place at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in South Africa.

Short presentations will be delivered on how e-learning is increasingly being employed as a means to enhance the capacities of the traditional universities, NGOs, government, international agencies and business.

A signing ceremony follows to launch the Global Virtual University with support from the Royal Norwegian Government.

The event will take place on September 1, 2002 at the Wild Olive Room in the
Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development at Ubuntu Village, between 1:15 and 2:45 pm.
