Green infrastructure is the need of hour for future smart cities: AECOM chairman

Greater Noida: Present at the GeoSmart India 2016, Dr. Prem Jain, chairman of AECOM India, talked about green buildings and sustainable infrastructure initiatives. Stressing on the need for recycling, he suggested that green infrastructure is a solution for future smart cities sustainability. While, giving an example he said, “Dholera in Gujarat is truly the first green smart city in India.” He added that 3.5 billion square feet of buildings in India are green.

On the other hand, conceptioneering during the plenary session Greg Bentley, CEO of Bentley Systems, introduced "Reality Modeling." He also shed light on software enabled costing of the project to test the feasibility – to "conceptioneer" the project.

Showing the significance of LiDAR system, Beng Chieh Quah, Director, FARO said, the 2000 year sewerage system of Rome was mapped using LiDAR. Imagine what a LiDAR scanner on top of a robot can do said Beng Chieh at GeoSmart India.

As far as Laser Scanning is concerned, Beng Chieh said, it can bring in huge benefits and cost savings in archeology conservation documentation. Laser scanning is playing key role in construction modeling in the context of BIM.
