GPS to hunt illegal fishers

Cracking down on illegal fishers will take a new face after the provincial government of Bohol, Philippines donated to the provincial police command a global positioning devise that could track the exact location of the encroachers. Also donated for the police’s seaborne patrol were a night vision monocular and two hand-held radio sets, to back the GPS tool. Through the GPS it will establish the exact location of a commercial fishing boat that may have encroached with the 15-km municipal waters.

The equipment will be devoted to hunting down illegal fishers off the Pamilacan Island.
GPS will validate if a commercial fisher has violated the 15-km limit in the municipal waters. Illegal fishers will have no more excuses because they can now be located exactly where they are. The data recorded by the GPS can be used as court evidence during prosecution of arrested illegal fishers.
