US, October 15, 2014: The GPS IIF-7 satellite has completed the checkout phase on orbit and has entered into service with the rest of the Block IIF spacecraft already in orbit.

Launched on August 1, GPS IIF-7 is the seventh of 12 Boeing GPS IIF satellites now in service and meeting all mission requirements for the US Air Force, which manages the GPS programme. The 50th Space Wing at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, which operates and manages the constellation, took control of the satellite August 8.

The satellite spacecraft was manoeuvred to its final orbital location in early September and set healthy on September 17, signifying that it is providing accurate positioning, navigation and timing data.
