A total of 106 Chinese Sturgeons have been saved in less than a month in the Shanghai region, said CRI online.
The Chinese sturgeon is a rare animal which is protected by the Chinese government.
106 sturgeons will be sent back to the Yangtse River at the end of August. They will be fixed with GPS chips. Through the system, data about where the sturgeons migrate to can be monitored and studied.
All trade of the animal is forbidden and fishermen are expected to send the sturgeons they capture to a Shanghai natural conservation area.
