US: NORAD may have decided to hand official Santa-tracking duties over to Bing this year, ending a five-year contract with Google, but the engineers in Mountain View will not be swayed. Google is announcing that it will continue on with its own Santa Tracker regardless, developing a “new route algorithm” that lets you follow the Claus’s location with up-to-the-minute precision.
Users will be able to follow Santa on Google Maps and Google Earth, and get his stats starting at 2:00 a.m. PST Christmas Eve at google.com/santatracker.
In addition, few other tools have been developed to help users track Santa from wherever they are. Users can add the new Chrome extension or download the Android app to keep up with Santa from their smartphone or tablet. Users can also get the latest updates on his trip, by following Google Maps on Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
The Google Santa Tracker will be launched on December 24, but the countdown to the journey starts now!
