US: Google My Maps has released its first major update since 2014, in which the company has introduced a redesigned user interface based on Google’s Material Design UI. Adding more, the company has added other performance improvements and features to it.
Google My Maps application is probably one of the last active apps to be converted into the Material UI, which was introduced when the Android Lollipop Operating System got released. The New app update v2.0 now has some new features like a welcome guide for new users along with view images and videos added on the Web, receiving directions to saved points on the map, and there is a searchable list of saved points along with a floating action bar to create new ones. Street View is also accessible within the application.
One of the biggest improvements in this new update is new signage that shows up on the Maps. The update also shows names of the streets and exits that you are supposed to turn to, instead of just showing the blue line. Earlier versions of Maps for Android, unfortunately, missed out this new feature.
