Google Maps merges real-time traffic data from Waze

Google Maps integrates traffic based updates via Waze platform

U.S: Google has started integrating real-time driving data from Waze into Google Maps for both Android and iOS.

Two months ago, Google had bought Waze to bring in more social aspect and real-time data to Google Maps. Till recently, Google Maps could only show passive traffic data by monitoring the speed of people using its app. The integration means that all the accidents, construction work, road closures reported on Waze will also reflect on Google Maps. On the other hand, Waze users will be able to get Street View and satellite imagery.

This is currently supported on the Google Maps app for Android and iOS in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Switzerland, UK and the US.
