US: On its Maps application, Google has added an offline navigation search feature for iPhone users. The new feature will allow the users to navigate and search for places while they are not connected to any wireless network. However, the users will have to download the maps first before accessing it offline.

The feature was first launched on Android devices in November. Navigation without an internet connection is only possible using the maps that have been downloaded in advance.

Users can search these maps offline for special sites such as stores, restaurants, cafes, petrol stations or tourist attractions. Offline navigation is popular among those who travel abroad and do not wish to use expensive data roaming.
