Washington: The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is organising a global design competition ”Transformation 2030”. The competition challenges architecture and engineering students to design a high-performance building that has a positive transformational impact on people and the planet. Participants get real-world experience designing a building based on existing industry needs and regulations, located in an actual community in need.
This design competition seeks to help students learn the skills they need to transform industry practices and follow a design process that integrates considers energy efficiency and sustainability. Also, by designing the building on an urban infill site, it seeks to use design as a tool to positively transform communities and society at large. The participants should rigorously study the 2030 Palette and are required to complete the Autodesk Building Performance Analysis (BPA) Certificate Program. The student must submit their certificate along with a detailed presentation of each entrant’s design strategies. Building performance analysis must play a prominent role in any submission. Participants must complete the Autodesk Building Performance Analysis Certificate Program. They must employ sustainable design strategies from the 2030 Palette and the Autodesk Building Performance Analysis Certificate and utilize Autodesk building performance analysis tools with a strong emphasis on whole building energy analysis. Entries must be uploaded through the competition Website at www.aias.org/transformation2030 by 5:00 pm, Eastern Time, on April 1, 2014.
