US: Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) and Utilimetrics, a non-profit educational association formerly known as the America Meter Reading Association, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU sets forth some basic parameters for establishing an agreement to pursue collaborative endeavours of mutual interest to each organisation.
Specifically, the MOU acknowledges that Utilimetrics and GITA share common missions to serve the interests of the two associations’ respective members and related entities. It formalises a mechanism to pursue activities of mutual interest related to educational endeavours, research, publications, advocacy, standards and events, and is intended to enhance collaboration in support of programmes and services of mutual interest to each organisation.
In addition, GITA has agreed to develop geospatial content for the annual conference of Utilimetrics, known as Autovation. Autovation 2011 will take place in Washington, DC, during September 25-28, 2011. As part of the agreement, GITA will organise a geospatial pavilion for the exhibition as well as develop a geospatial track for the educational programme.
