THE Subic Bay Metropolitan Development Authority (SBMA)in Philippines is planning to put two in-house developed applications online soon. The SBMA’s Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) and the GIS- SBMA are being enhanced to allow visitors and financial officers to use them online. Both applications are part of a 76 million dollar loan from the International Bank of Reconstruction and Development.
Limited features of the GIS-SBMA will be included in the SBMA portal. Potential local and foreign locators can access the GIS maps to look for areas suitable for offices while economic planners can monitor the SBMA’s commercial and environmental behavior and housing development. The GIS will have various functionalities but only the more significant ones will be accessible online. This will be very useful for potential investors and locators who may want to know more about their business prospects in Subic.
The GIS-SBMA is currently being used for environmental usage planning, utilities and services management, tax assessment and real estate analysis. It provides extensive information about a particular area within SBMA and is updated at least once every two weeks. The IFMS on the other hand, is currently undergoing a parallel implementation and approval by the COA, which started last June and will end by September. The IFMS will be accessible through the Internet by accountants, treasurers and auditors of the SBMA and commercial establishments.
