Kerala State Remote Sensing and Environment Centre (KSREC) working under the auspicious of Dept. of Space, Govt. of India and the State Govt of Kerala in association with Institute of Geoinformatics of Agriculture and Ecosystem Management Group (AGES), an R & D and Teaching organisation based at Trivandrum jointly conducts a four months (500 hrs) Diploma in Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing Applications

Candidates with a background of disciplines like Geology, Geography, Environment Science and other science subjects, Agriculture, Forestry, Community Medicine, Engineering, Town Planning, Computer Science and Management can apply.

The course includes training for the use of GPS and other survey equipments, analysis of satellite images and aerial photographs and use of various GIS software packages

The Geoinformatics technology finds application in fields like town and country planning, grass root level planning, infrastructure and facilities management, natural resource management, E-governance etc. It is also used extensively for planning and monitoring needs of the business sector like marketing and product distribution.
