Warsaw-based Computer Land (CL) is to buy a 41% stake, worth z³.3 million, in Geomar, a firm that specializes in GIS. The transaction is expected to strengthen CL’s position in the rapidly growing GIS market, which has already seen CL winning a z³.66 million contract with telecoms giant TP SA for the implementation of a geo-marketing system. Indeed, CL is currently preparing itself for a GIS implementation tender from the National Power Grid and for a possible further contact borne of the nationwide Property Registration System that is touted as being worth some z³.2 billion.

According to analysts the coming years will see a boom in GIS solutions in the telecommunications, power-supply and fuels sector.
