The Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) and GISbid.com, the online marketplace for worldwide dissemination of geospatial project information, announced that they are working together to allow URISA members greater access and more current information about GIS projects.
Under the terms of the agreement, URISA members will be allowed to post projects for free and take advantage of the ability to disseminate the project information to its worldwide membership base, which now exceeds 3000 members from over 40 countries. In this regard, members will be exposing their projects to a broader audience of potential bidders. This is particularly helpful to government entities that must release project information (request for proposals, information or quotation otherwise known as RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs respectively) for competitive bid. In addition, if members wish only to divulge the information to a select group of bidders, GISbid.com will furnish the capability to form private “workgroups” which then allow bids to be published among a smaller group by invitation only. Other unique features that will be provided to members include
For URISA members who are consultants, service organizations, or private companies, each will receive a reduced membership fee to gain access to the more than twenty projects that are posted weekly on GISbid.com
