GIS becomes emerging technology in the New India vision

India: Aiming to be a $4 trillion economy by 2022-23, the Government of India envisions emerging technologies as the key factor in leading the desired growth. Over the years, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology has emerged as a data sharing and collaborative model, contributing to the creation of a continuous, interoperable GIS database on almost all subjects. Geospatial capabilities are used across many building-blocks of the economy such as natural resources, transportation, emergency response, healthcare, urban planning and traffic management etc.

This year’s GeoSmart India, scheduled in Hyderabad from 3-5th Dec 2019, will highlight the ways GIS can be leveraged to develop and deploy innovative location intelligence solutions by harnessing the futuristic technologies, including Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things. The conference, with ‘Ignite-Innovate-Integrate’ as its theme, aims to bring together national mapping agencies, decision-makers and policy drivers from government and private sectors, developmental organizations and academic institutions to focus on technology advancements and adoption.

Speaking on the association, Mr. Agendra Kumar, President, Esri India said “As India steps towards being a connected economy, GIS has a huge role to play. It helps in bringing all types of data together for mapping and analysis which lead to better insights and decision-making. We are happy to partner with GeoSmart India which will provide the ideal platform for thought leaders from Government, Academia and Industry to meet and share best practices”.

Esri India, country’s leading Geographic Information System (GIS) Software & Solutions provider will have a strong presence at the GeoSmart India. Subject matter experts from Esri will showcase how GIS can play a significant role in realizing the government’s vision for an inclusive and sustainable growth across various regions and sectors in the country.
