GfK MACON publishes new 5-digit postal code map of the USA

26 July 2006 – GfK MACON has developed a new map with around 40,000 five-digit postal code areas for the USA for 2006. The map was carefully compared with the latest data from the various bureaus of statistics in the USA and with current orthophotography.

It is now available at a level of precision equal to maps with a scale of up to 1:10,000. Developing a precise cartographical representation of the USA is an especially complex and time-consuming task. On the one hand, this is due to the size of the country and the large number of postal districts. On the other hand, this is also due to the very high level of quality and precision that customers demand from digital maps.

All US 5-digit zip code areas are fully digitalized and attributed without any gaps. The map is available in the standard GIS formats Shape (ESRI), mid/mif (MapInfo) and RegioGraph (GfK MACON) as of August.
