Germany: Germany’s national railway infrastructure will soon be equipped with an online GIS management platform. The platform will enable engineers and officials to aggregate data from various resources and analyse them to reach clear and actionable information.
DB Netz AG, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, is responsible for the railway infrastructure in Germany. It manages more than 33,500 km of the rail network. The company has recently selected Intergraph’s GeoMedia Desktop Suite as part of its AGON GIS project initiative. The GIS platform will be used to manage the geospatial documentation of rail infrastructure, the transportation network and rail corridor data, as well as creating cartographic products. It is aimed at making the spatial information more accessible and usable across the network.
