German cities select land management solution from AED-SICAD

Germany, 17 January 2007 – The German Cities of Bochum, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen and Herne have opted jointly for products from AED-SICAD as the new platform for geo base data and communal tasks.

On January 12, 2007, on the occasion of the kick-off of their cooperation, representatives of the Cities of Bochum, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen and Herne met in Bonn, together with AED-SICAD. This date was preceded by the signing of the cooperation agreement on December 15, 2006, after all four Northrhine-Westphalian communities had opted for the vendor AED-SICAD.

The four large cities with altogether more than 1.4 million inhabitants are going to introduce the new “Official Real Estate Cadastre Information System” within a joint project. To do this, they are using AED-SICAD’s software product line for land management based on ArcGIS technology, which is also the platform for the new GIS standard in numerous other German federal states and communities. In the future, the cadastre data may be profitably used for a visibly enhanced task spectrum, such as construction development, energy supply, sewage, traffic planning and environmental tasks as well as statistical purposes and Internet services for citizens.

The cooperation based on the key subject Official Real Estate Cadastre creates synergies for all involved parties and at the same time allows a regulated approach. Apart from the general piloting phase, each of the cities is concentrating on a special focus, from which the other partners can mutually benefit.

At the same time, the purchased cadastre solution can be customized according to the individual requirements and focuses of the involved cities. In the AED-SICAD product line, special emphasis has been placed on complete, integrated applications. Thus, all four cities use AED-SICAD’s LM migration software for the migration of the base data. The editor and server components are used to capture and manage the real estate information; for the data distribution in the Internet, the client plans to introduce the AED-SICAD web applications GIS Portal and 3A Web.

All involved parties are convinced that the new Official Real Estate Cadastre Information System is an excellent platform for the bundling of knowledge in order to make it available for a broad user base. Given that all partners benefit from this solution, the cooperation is going to achieve sustained success.
