ISRO’s IRNSS-1H launch to boost private partnerships

In a bid to make India an independent satellite-building industry, the first of two replacements or spare navigation satellites assembled in partnership with a private industry consortium, was flagged off from Bengaluru on August 12. The 1,400-kg IRNSS-1H satellite is due to be deployed in space from Sriharikota this month-end. China plans to develop sea launches to boost space commerce

China plans to provide sea launches for commercial payloads to be carried by Long March rockets, according to an aerospace official. China will use solid carrier rockets which rely less on launch facilities and feature mature technology, Tang said, adding that key technology for the carrier rockets will be tested at sea this year and the service is expected to be available for international users in 2018. Two more satellites join Galileo service provision

The GSA and the GSC, have announced the commissioning of two additional satellites, bringing the total number of satellites available for the Galileo service provision to 18. The GSA is pleased to announce the completion of in-orbit testing (IOT) of two new Galileo satellites, GSAT0212-SV ID 03 and GSAT0213-SV ID 04. Having passed all initial tests, the two satellites are now officially commissioned for operational use and are usable for the Galileo service provision. Read more…
