India: The BRICS nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa – have signed a joint declaration called ‘Moscow Declaration’ to supporting multilateral Research and Development (R&D) projects in mutually agreed areas, including geospatial technology. The BRICS Action Plan 2015-18 on BRICS Science, Technology and Innovation cooperation details that India will lead the push for geospatial technology and its application. The country will host BRICS Working Group on Geospatial Technology Application for Development in March 2016. The ‘Moscow Declaration’ reflects BRICS nations’ utilization of science, technology and innovation for addressing common global and regional socio-economic challenges.
