Georgia Power Community and Economic Development launches EGIS with Orion Technology and Rolta International

Atlanta, Georgia, USA, 2 August 2006: Georgia Power operates a full-service Community and Economic Development organization serving the entire state of Georgia. The organization recently launched a single, state-of-the-art, comprehensive EGIS with its application development team consisting of Rolta International and Orion Technology Inc.

Rolta International was contracted to implement the full-service web-GIS system using Orion Technology’s OnPoint web-GIS software. Sitting on top of ESRI’s ArcIMS, the OnPoint system serves multiple levels of users with one customizable user interface.

Prospective businesses can access data relating to nearly 8,000 industrial sites, buildings and office properties, as well as demographics, employment, taxes, incentives, labor and wage data. The secure web based system also allows project managers to access internal data from anywhere with an Internet connection.

“This state of the art system will position Georgia Power to remain a global player in the Economic Development arena for many years to come.” commented Don Richards, Georgia Resource Center Administrator for Georgia Power, Community and Economic Development Organization.
