Geocom Resources has recently announced the receipt of results and report on initial activities in Region IX of its South Chile program. Using published data, and information from several proprietary exploration programs a large dataset was compiled by a Geocom consultant and organized into a GIS database to enable targeting of areas worthy of additional exploration. Geocom’s program was designed to confirm the existence of gold, copper and other anomalous elements delineated by prior regional reconnaissance programs. Geocom Resources Inc. is a U.S.-based mineral exploration company focused on acquiring and developing mineral resources in geologically acceptable and politically stable countries of the world.
Utilizing the regional database, Geocom geologists prioritized several areas for follow-up sampling based on significant clusters of high gold and copper values found in stream sediment samples, pan concentrates, and rock chip samples. For example, one area prioritized by Geocom is a watershed that hosts over 40 gold occurrences. These occurrences consist of gold reported in sediment samples from assay data and visible gold seen in pan concentrates or noted under microscope examination. Geocom targeted this area because of the high percentage of angular gold noted in the samples, which suggests a gold source not far from the sample locations. Results are very positive, and Geocom is very encouraged by these initial results from a largely unexplored area of Chile.
