General Dynamics unit captures $209M satellite contract

General Dynamics’ Scottsdale-based C4 Systems division has been awarded a $209 million contract by ORBIMAGE, to build a new satellite, which will provide improved mapping and high-resolution satellite imagery to the U.S. military. The work will be performed in the company’s Gilbert operations, which they picked up through their July 2004 acquisition of Orbital Sciences. The satellite is expected to launch in 2007.
