GDTA launches gdta(e-campus.fr

Based on experience acquired in traditional training on satellite imagery applications and to answer new training needs, GDTA decided to complete its traditional offer with a new service: distance learning. To support this innovative approach of learning, GDTA has combined the
know-how of partners specializing in multimedia engineering with the complementary skills of its member organizations (CNES, IGN, BRGM and IFREMER) and its team of trainers, all of them being highly qualified in Earth observation and geoinformation applications.

A different way of training. Based on the New Technologies of Information and Communication, this new offer enables cost-effective self-paced learning, anywhere, anytime with the
coaching of high qualified specialists.

Two services are available online:

  • The online training module based on eLearning technology: the first available module, Spacecarto-online, has been designed to train people to acquire a basic knowledge required to produce geographic data using satellite imagery. Spacecarto-online is an interactive and flexible training programme created to get familiar with space cartography concepts, methods
    and technique.
  • The distance learning support which is a personalized post-learning service designed to complement courses at GDTA. Back in the office, the trainee can communicate via the Internet with GDTA’s experts to ask questions, supplement knowledge and apply what he learned
    during the course.

Both services supplement traditional GDTA courses either providing “pre-training” (to acquire prerequisites) or online post-training.

The creation of gdta(e-campus fits in with GDTA development strategy. For 25 years, GDTA has been training more than 5000 specialists from all over the world covering a broad spectrum of thematic applications related to satellite imagery including: satellite-derived mapping, renewable resources inventorying, water resources management, land use planning, public
healthcare, environmental monitoring and natural hazards. GDTA has become a unique pole of competences in the field of professional training on operational satellite imagery applications.
