GDT and MapInfo provide LB intelligence as foundation for homeland security initiatives

Geographic Data Technology a developer of map databases has announced that it will participate in MapInfo Corporation’s grant program to assist small to medium-sized municipalities in developing and deploying Homeland Security/Continuity of Government plans and initiatives.

The MapInfo Homeland Security and Continuity of Government Grant Program is designed to provide location-based intelligence to help governments plan, detect, and mitigate risk associated with terrorist threats while also increasing their ability to respond effectively to disasters.

One hundred grant recipients will receive MapInfo’s location-based intelligence software along with GDT-based street and address databases and address matching tools. The grant awards of data and software will allow for better communication, collaboration, and coordination of location information, helping governments more quickly identify and understand the geographic aspect of risks to more effectively protect people and assets.
