GARMIN launches GPS with turn-by-turn navigation on Indian roads

GARMIN, the GPS company, is all set to launch the turn-by-turn technology in India. This is the first time that such on-road navigation will be available on a stand-alone basis in India. In addition to this, the highly advanced Vehicle Tracking System(VTS), which will help track vehicles through their entire route will also hit the markets, announced Mr A M Lalljee, Director, Aerial Services Private Ltd. (ASPAL), which is the sole distributor of the GARMIN products in India.

The entire database across India garnered from Kalyani Net Ventures Ltd (KNVL) has been loaded in these devices. Landmarks of cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore, which includes railway stations, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, hospitals and emergency aid centers, bank-ATM points and amusement part, apart from every road is available in this software. While going from one destination to another one just has to feed the details and the device will take over from there. A voice modulator will guide the vehicle announcing every turn, advising the distance before a turn and sounding as alert before a turn. Besides, the device will also flash a visual display of the map and guide the viewer.
