Ford releases navigation app for TDI users

US: Ford has released a free navigation app for smartphones that allows users to sync traffic, directions and information (TDI) services from their phone to a car. Real-time traffic, and traffic forecasts and incident information for 126 North American cities are also available through the app.

The application lets Ford owners who are TDI users have a constant link to their cloud-based Sync services account where they can add, save and manage “Saved Points” or addresses. Up to 25 addresses can be stored in the application and they can be accessed through sync once users step inside their 2010 or 2011 Ford vehicle.

For safety purposes, the app includes a 5-mph lockout feature that prevents it from running if the vehicle is travelling more than 5 mph.

The Sync Destinations mobile app is currently available for free on the iPhone, iPad and Android-based devices.
