First images from SkySat-1 satellite released

US: The first images taken by SkySat-1 satellite, launched in November, have been publicly released. SkySat-1, a 100-kilogram satellite was built to collect submeter resolution imagery and high-definition video. The first set of images the company released taken on December 4th as SkySat-1 flew over Perth, Australia. “The images have not been tuned or calibrated but still exceeded their early expectations,” said Skybox.

Skybox Imaging, the California-based startup intends to launch 23 more satellites in the years ahead to provide timely access to high-resolution imagery.
