Fire stations in Hertfordshire adopt GIS for emergency response

Web Map Viewer is to be deployed at all 23 of SFRS fire stationsUK: Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) in England is planning to use GIS software for improving emergency response. The software will ensure that the resources are in the areas where they are needed most.

HFRS has chosen Cadcorp’s Workload Modeller application to maintain efficiency and effectiveness of its emergency response management system. This simulation modelling software uses historic data and likely future incidents, and relates them to the fire service”s resources by comparing the requirement and the availability of resources. It is capable of forecasting the likely effects of making any changes to the location and deployment of fire fighting vehicles and personnel. Earlier in August, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) had implemented the Cadcorp software as the corporate GIS in all its 23 fire stations.
