“Antariksh Pari-Kalpana Chawla,” a short film on the India-born astronaut Kalpana Chawla, who met with a tragic end during a space mission, is all set to hit the screen next month around June 13.
The one-hour film, directed by journalist-turned director Aman Kaushik, traces the growth of Chawla from a young unassuming girl from Haryana to a young astronaut, soaring great heights at NASA.
The film also presents original footage of young Chawla training at NASA, her work inside the space laboratory, her participation with other astronauts on various missions related to space research and also the burning up of the space vehicle during the last mission.
“The movie made with students in mind, aims at inspiring young minds in achieving great heights like Chawla. It also aims at sowing seeds of interest regarding professions like space astronauts and in firing the imagination of young children”, Kaushik said.
“Talks were on to screen the film at subsidised rates for children. The film was expected to be screened at various schools and educational institutions”, Kaushik added.
