Fiji to curb water loss using GIS

Fiji: The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) will launch its first ever GIS system. The system will help the Authority manage information about maintenance of its existing infrastructure and construction of new infrastructure.

WAF chief executive Opetia Ravai says they’ll also install a computerised system which allows it to monitor water behaviour in its piping systems.

“We have to do that before we start tackling water loss or pressure management to see how they behave that is something we are proud of achieving we will continue to improve on that. There’s also the thing like GIS we’re launching it early next month and that is also huge initiative and milestone for us.”

According to the Authority, the GIS is an ideal solution for the effective management of WAF’s infrastructure.
