ESRI to port ArcIMS & ArcSDE software to Hewlett

ESRI, the world leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, is porting ArcIMS and ArcSDE, for use with Oracle software, to Hewlett–Packard’s HP-UX 11i operating system. Upon completion, the GIS community will have access to a powerful solution optimized to run on the HP platform.

ESRI’s ArcIMS provides the foundation for disseminating high-end GIS and mapping services via the Internet. ArcIMS is the only software that enables users to integrate local data sources with Internet data sources for display, query, and analysis in an easy-to-use Web browser.

ESRI’s ArcSDE is a GIS gateway that facilitates managing spatial data in a database management system (DBMS). Targeted for the business-to-business market, ArcSDE allows for the storage of spatial and tabular data in commercial DBMS products.
