ESRI, the leading developer of geographic information system (GIS) software, has announced plans for the appointment of a second distributor in Brazil. Due to a burgeoning national economy and the potential to expand the use of GIS throughout the country, it was recently decided to split responsibilities by industry between GEMPI, the existing distributor, and IMAGEM, a well established GIS company and business partner of GEMPI.
GEMPI will retain its existing customers and accounts and provide its expertise in the areas of local, state, and federal government; surveying and cadastre; environment; natural resources; public safety; and gas and water utilities.
IMAGEM will be responsible for the electric and telecommunications utilities, agriculture, business, health, defense, oil and gas, and transportation markets. Both companies will focus on expanding GIS markets.
