India: Esri India has announced the second edition of ‘mApp Your Way 2016’. The purpose of this application is to provide a platform to institutes and students to showcase their skills and capabilities in GIS technology.
Students that are under graduate, post graduate or research scholars at institutions that are users of Geospatial or ArcGIS technology can participate in this event.
“GIS technology now plays an important role in all walks of life. Through this initiative, Esri India will familiarize students with GIS technology and help them understand its benefits better,” said Agendra Kumar, president, Esri India.
Surya Durbha, Associate Professor, Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering, IIT Bombay said, “It is good to see the growing interest in the academia about the impact of GIS technology on a variety of challenging real world applications. The mApp Your Way challenge provides a great opportunity for the youth of India to create solutions that would help in dealing with some key societal issues."
Participating teams will be given four months to develop the app on Esri’s ArcGIS platform on themes spanning across education, health, retail, transport, energy and environment and government projects.
