California: Esri has announced a strategic alliance with MapmyIndia, India”s leading creator of digital maps, data, and location-based services. MapmyIndia will migrate its data production environment to the ArcGIS platform, allowing it to leverage Esri”s high-end cartographic production tools and workflows to expand its range of products.
The alliance will provide Indian application developers and end users with a high-performance, cost-effective platform for GIS and location-based services development. In addition, Esri”s cloud-based ArcGIS Online will help democratise GIS data access throughout India with its low-cost subscription plans. “Migrating its map production to the ArcGIS platform will let MapmyIndia take advantage of Esri”s rich development environment, facilitating, for example, the creation of custom server-based GIS applications or embedding GIS functionality into existing applications,” said Jack Dangermond, Esri President. “This will help the company reduce map production costs and meet data publishing deadlines. In addition, MapmyIndia”s data will power Esri”s geocoding and network services throughout the country.”
