The City2See web site (www.city2see.com), powered by ER Mapper technology, is now offering high-resolution colour aerial photography of the Greater Melbourne metropolitan area. Users are able to freely search and view the image catalogue and print low-resolution images for free.

City2See let’s people roam through Gigabytes of digital colour photography at the click of a mouse. A simple interface allows users to search on specific street addresses or to browse around streets, suburbs and neighbourhoods. The images cover most of the Melbourne Metropolitan area. Property boundaries can also be added to the images with the simple click of a button. The images have a pixel size of 15cm which means that houses, backyards and cars parked in the driveway can all be seen with a clarity better than the best commercial satellites.

The large multi-terabyte library of aerial photography is held in ER Mapper’s ECW format. The City2See website licenses elements of the ER Mapper application engine to mosaic “areas of interest” on demand as well as giving the user the ability to lighten or darken the photography.
