Ecuador: Through aerial photography, Ecuador’s Military Geographic Institute mapped Guayas River Basin at 1:30,000 scale. In addition, it produced 80 topographic maps at 1:25.000. This mapping project is part of Ecuadorian coast mapping project, especially in the provinces of Manabi, Guayas and Portoviejo.
According to the Institute, aerial photography is a major input for the development of basic and thematic mapping and planning tool in regional governments, primarily for land management in urban and rural sectors.
Under the Ecuadorian coastal mapping project, colour aerial photography of the cities of Manta, Salinas and the city of Portmore at 1:5000 scale is scheduled. Later on, black and white maps will be available to all users.
