Ecology and Environment, Inc., a broad based environmental consulting, testing, engineering, and design firm recently was contracted by the ECWA to provide a wide range of GIS services and support from infrastructure development to O&M to training. The contract value is $300,000 for two years with an available option year. The E & E GIS team was selected in part for its strong application development experience and mobile mapping and GPS capabilities.
The scope of work includes:
· Custom GIS application implementation, to include migration to the latest software version including integration of the Call-Before-You-Dig program
· Data management support, to include integration of updated New York State street centerline data;
· Applying GIS technology to study pipeline and valve leaks. Waterline replacement projects will be based on this analysis.
· Customized GIS training for ECWA staff, to include onsite training programs, and the development of a GIS User Manual.
E & E will also be involved in a pilot program using mobile mapping software and GPS units to inventory water distribution features, including fire hydrants, for the recently ECWA-acquired Lancaster Water District.
