US: eBay has built a detailed data visualisation of the collective donations it received in response to its fundraising campaign for typhoon Haiyan-hit Philippines.
The interactive visualisation takes the form of a spinning globe and viewer can actually see donation and which country it came from. Zooming in, it is also possible to filter by each donation type, observe the daily donation totals, and look into into individual donations to see exactly where and when they originated.
The response from the global community representing 162 countries was powerful and over 80 percent of the 23 million was raised within first 10 days. In all around 563,622 people globally used PayPal or eBay to contribute a total of $23 million in the 30 days after the typhoon tragedy.
