Geographic Data Technology has announced that it has been selected as the sole provider of mapping and routing data for use within the Cities location-based guides offered through EarthLink’s wireless email and Internet services. GDT’s Dynamap/Transportation street and address database will be used to provide proximity location, map display and walking or driving directions for use on handheld devices or laptop computers. Compiled from a vast network of sources, Dynamap/Transportation provides street and address coverage, highly accurate one-way and restricted turn information, accurate representation of limited access highways, preferred routing names, and exit point layers.
EarthLink’s Cities is a robust suite of location-based features that allow users to plot their location in major cities and access search directories to find nearby businesses and attractions by address, then utilize interactive mapping and navigation tools that guide them to their search destination. A menu of Eating Out, Leisure, Services, and Events & Times categories make it easy for users of handheld devices to navigate around, access information, and enjoy hundreds of attractions and venues in top cities around the country.
