Japan: A non-profit organization called Crisis Mappers Japan has launched a crowdfunding campaign for mapping by drones in Japan. The initiative is called Drone Bird, and it aims to reflect the country’s damaged states after disasters in maps. The organization set a target of about $325,000 on the website ReadyFor and received about $203,000 in mere three days of the campaign launch. Crisis Mappers Japan is known to have been engaged in activities of mapping the damaged states on OpenStreetMap based on satellite photographs when natural disasters occur, for the purpose of making use as lifesaving or supporting activities.
