NOIDA, India: Dr M K Munshi has joined GIS Development as the Dean of GIS Institute, the company’s research and education wing. GIS Institute imparts training and education to students and professionals on geospatial technologies and conducts research projects for private and government agencies.
Prior to joining GIS Development, Dr Munshi worked as Senior Executive Director (Defence Solutions) at Rolta India Ltd for almost two decades. He was involved in the marketing, implementation and support of mapping/ geospatial solutions and services in key government organisations and was involved in strategic overseas mapping projects.
A PhD from IIT Delhi, Dr. Munshi began his career as an Officer of the Corps of Engineers, Indian Army and seconded the Survey of India in 1967. Dr. Munshi has been instrumental in establishing national specifications for aerial photography for mapping/ resources survey and the National Natural Resources Management System (NNRMS) programme of the Government of India.
On this occasion, Dr Munshi said, “I have been associated with GIS Development for almost a decade. I am now happy to work with them towards the proliferation of GIS technology in the areas / organisations which are yet to leverage the power of the technology in their respective businesses.”
