Directions Magazine has announced that Ms. Nora Parker is immediately joining its staff as Senior Managing Editor. Ms. Parker will assume all editorial responsibilities for Direction’s Wednesday Digest newsletter that provides expert commentary and geospatial technology features each week. She will also assist on special issues and provide leadership for other content-related functions at Direction’s Magazine. Ms. Parker has been affiliated with Directions since its inception in 1998 and will remain on the company’s board of directors as well as continue in her capacity as a director with Conclusive Strategies, a geographic analytics firm.
Ms. Parker has extensive experience as an editor and technologist. In 1994, she was the first editor of Business Geographics Magazine and held that post until the magazine’s publishing group was sold to Longman Geosciences. She held the position of Conference Chairperson of the Business Geographics Conference from 1994 until 1997. Before joining Business Geographics she was a consultant with Ernst and Young from 1989 until 1992, and before that worked for Criterion, a company that produced one of the first PC-based GIS systems, LandTrak. Most recently, Ms. Parker was the editor and publisher of Steamboat Magazine in Steamboat, Colorado.
