DigitalGlobe wants NOAA to modify resolution standards

Image Credits - NOAAUS: DigitalGlobe has asked the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to modify its satellite image resolution standards as the company seeks business opportunities in international markets.

According to an exclusive report published in Breaking Defense, DigitalGlobe has asked NOAA to lift the half-metre resolution restriction on satellite images and issue a license for developing a quarter-metre resolution technology. The request has been made with an aim to respond to international market demand.

As per the details available on NOAA website, there are currently 13 companies including DigitalGlobe listed as NOAA Licensees for Private Remote Sensing Space Systems.
