Last week Bosnia and Herzegovina Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Japanese International Development Agency (JICA) organized the final presentation of the Study on designing digital topographic maps in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Aims of the study have been realized in full, said Minister of Civil Affairs Safet Halilovic opening the seminar on practical appliance of those maps.
New digital topographic maps have been designed for 21 greater towns and technology has been transferred to the technical personnel. Dynamic economic activities call for a series of different information and details for which these maps can be useful to the authorities as well as to private businesses. The project of designing digital topographic maps for BiH, which was funded by the Government of Japan, was officially launched in October 2002 by signing a harmonized study between the Ministry of Civil Affairs and JICA.
