Nepal: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase cooperation in establishing a national geospatial platform has been signed between the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and National Information Technology Center (NITC) of Government of Nepal.

The MoU was signed on December 10, 2013 by ICIMOD’s Director General Dr David Molden and NITC’s Executive Director Mr Anup Baskota. The MoU signals a commitment by the two institutions to assist in capacity building on geospatial information management.

Realising the potential of earth observation and geospatial information and its applications for sustainable mountain development, ICIMOD has been promoting integrated and innovative geo-based solutions in the Hindu Kush Himalayan (HKH) region. ICIMOD is supported by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in this effort.
