Singapore, 27 February 2007 – Credent Technology has launched Credent Advanced Technology Sdn Bhd, a new Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) venture in Malaysia. Credent Advanced Technology is accredited with the acclaimed MSC status awarded by the Malaysian government.

“Credent Advanced Technology will be our research and development host for geospatial applications and incubator supporting new geospatial ventures”, said Bill Love, Chief Executive of Credent.

“Credent Advanced Technology is focused on location-based business services through the development of its flagship software OMNI and applications serving public safety and security”. “We are also looking into new applications of airborne data collection techniques such as Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR)”, he added.

LiDAR collects 3-dimensional data that is used to generate terrain and urban models that in turn can be used by security forces for planning, visualising and rehearsing missions for S.W.A.T. and other emergency operations planning. Omni adds the capability to track and display the movement of assets through a 3-D visualisation.

Credent started research into location-based technology several years ago and announced its plan to develop a suite of products under the Omni brand name. The first product, Omni Marine, was released in 2004. Omni Terra followed and both products have been sold and installed throughout most of southeast Asia. With the formation of Credent Advanced Technology, Omni R&D will be centred in the Multimedia Super Corridor with development focused on Wireless (WiFi) technology to accommodate difficult applications tracking assets that move between outdoor and indoor locations. The resulting applications will be sold under the Omni InXide brand.

Credent Advanced Technology is located in the Technopreneur Centre in Cyberjaya, Kuala Lumpur. The company is linking up with local partners to sell its products in Malaysia and forming global alliances to expand into the international market.
